Cahaba Springs Announcements 7-29-18

Cahaba Springs members and friends:

You are invited to join us on Sunday, July 29 at Cahaba Springs as we study the Word and worship God.  Sunday School begins at 9:30, and worship is at 11.  Worship will be led by liturgist Joan Creighton and our Pastor, The Rev. Dr. James D. McLeod, Jr.  Dr. McLeod's sermon title is Pruning the Vineyard, based on Psalm 80:7-19 and John 15:1-8.  Our chancel choir will present the anthem, By the Gentle Waters.

On Sunday, August 5, during our normal Sunday worship, we will host a Blessing of the Backpacks.  We are inviting students, regardless of age or school, to attend this special service with their backpacks.  Please plan to attend as we ask God's blessing on the backpacks, the learning they represent, and the precious souls who carry them.  Several students from Ascension Leadership Academy (Presbyterian Home for Children) will be joining us. Invite the students you know and love. RuMe ID tags, each with an unique URL and QR code and imprinted with the Cahaba Springs logo, will be given to the first fifty students.  Following worship we will resume our monthly fellowship luncheon.  Please bring a side, salad, or desert; the church will provide the meat.

In summary:  bring a student, bring a backpack, bring a dish!

And please make note of these additional announcements:

  • This Sunday is a "5th-Sunday;" therefore, it's a collection day for 3-Hots-and-a-Cot at the Clay Veteran's Shelter.  Please bring your paper products, such as paper towels, toilet tissue, and large garbage bags, and add them to the donations on the table by the elevator.
  • Friday, August 3 will be our monthly volunteer work day at the Presbyterian Home for Children.  Volunteers should meet behind Jim ‘N Nicks at 7:00 am followed by breakfast at Jack’s.  After breakfast it's off to Talladega for a fulfilling day of service.  The group will return around 3:00 pm. Please contact George Fritsma if you would like to participate.
  • Don't forget there are many ways that you can help share information about the activities and the mission of our church.  "Like" and "follow" us on Facebook, and then "share" our posts throughout the week.  Forward this email to friends or family, and invite them to join in one of our study groups. Call up an old friend, and invite them to worship with you.

As always, you can find more information about Cahaba Springs by visiting our website, CSPChurch.org.

The peace of Christ be with you!
