Cahaba Springs Worship 10-14-18

Doug Marshall, Presbyterian Home for Children

Our worship leader on October 14 is Doug Marshall. Graduating from the University of West Florida in 1985 and recognized as a Distinguished Alumnus in 2012, Doug is the President and CEO of Presbyterian Home for Children located in Talladega, now in its 150th year of serving at risk and homeless children. In a state with age 6 being the average age of a homeless person, he is now leading efforts to help put both homeless children and their mothers on a path of hope, along with providing a residential therapeutic treatment program for teenage girls who have been subject to severe abuse and/or neglect. In 2017, he was recognized as one of the Top 50 Over 50 in central Alabama by Positive Maturity. Marshall served previously as CFO of United Ability where he brought his financial skill set and overall heart on his journey of serving children and adults with disabilities and then joined the nonprofit Alabama Family Trust as its CFO and Director of Community Relations to help administer special needs trusts across Alabama. He enjoyed 25 years with Energen Corporation, where he served as VP/Controller of Spire (formerly Alagasco) with direct operational responsibility for the state’s largest natural gas utility and Director of Tax for Energen Corporation which is one of the country’s largest independent oil and gas producers. He is a CPA and worked in the Tax Department for Ernst & Young, LLP. Marshall also serves as a career and life coach with Grace Ministries to those in need of direction. He and his wife, Christy have been married for 32 years with 3 adult children and 1 grandson. Please join us in welcoming Doug Marshall to our pulpit on Sunday, October 14.
